The spectacular thing is the color, but there's not only the pink one, there are some other like brown, blue, green and other different colors. Also there is a little tour you can take.

All these pink lakes are old (or current) salt quarries. Water is extremely salty, but no problem to step in for a photo. And you will definitely see flamingos here, they like to fish in these waters.

Fabulously unusual and ancient salt lagoons in which micro-organisms containing carotene turn the water a spectrum of bright pinks. Visually stunning ! Tiny crill feed here which are in turn an important food source for flamingos - hence their punk-coral plumage. All fascinating !

I have seen many brown lakes, but this is my first pink lake. With the sky reflection, in places the lake seemed to be a purplish-pink. A microorganism, known as haloarchaea, in the salt-saturated water causes the pinkish colour. The high salt concentration in the water makes it a great place to float on the water.

the pink lake was one of the most beautiful things i visited in mexico. we took a car to go there and at the entrance you need to take a guide to be able to visit the pink lake. this is because its private property. the guide is 50 pesos per person.

What a fantastic day out. The tour was packed with more than is on the list. This was a non-stop totally fun day. I was a bit leary because I saw posts complaining about food on trips, and so I brought my own just in case. Turns out, the food was great like everything else on this tour.

The guide explained how the lake had achieved this naturally pink color. It had something to do with micro-organisms. I wouldn’t of believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself.

I was a little bit worried that every photo from this spot was photoshopped, but no. It actually is that pink. Unbelievable.
